Tenancy Information
Any tenancies (or renewals) which commence on or after 1st June 2019 are protected by the Tenant Fees Act 2019. This means that most fees that were previously charged to tenants are now prohibited.
The only fees that Landlords or Agents are now permitted to charge tenants are described as Permitted Payments. Permitted Payments include Rent, Deposits, Holding Deposits, Damage to property, loss of keys/security device (£50 per key/device unless costs exceed this amount whereby proof of cost will be provided to Tenant to pay. £15 per hour agent charge is applicable for handling such items) Breach of Tenancy Agreement fees, Variation to Tenancy Agreement (£50 per variation) and Early Termination of Tenancy by the Tenant (the Landlords costs in re-advertising the property plus any loss of rent incurred by the landlord). The fees applicable will be dependent on the property you rent but all fees will be disclosed prior to the Tenant signing the Agreement.
